forum, sive locus iudicii Athenis: sic dictus παρὰ
ὸ πυκνὸν, i. e. a densitate aditum, per vicos olim coniunctarum, Setph. Locus erat iuxta Acropolim aedificatus, antiquae simplicitatis usu, non ad posterioris Thearri splendorem, idemque forte cum veteri Foro, in quo olim conveniebatur, iuxta Pandemi Veneris aedem, ἰόντων Α᾿θήνηςιν εἰς τὴν Α᾿κρόπολιν ἀπὸ τοῦ θεάτρου, euntibus Athenis ad Aeropolim a theatro, ut adnotat Pausan. Atticis, qui Veneris praedictaesacellum ibi collocat. Et certe ideo sic dictam Venerem hanc vult Apollodorus, l. περὶ Θεῶν, quod πᾶς ὁ δῆμος, totus populus antiquitus ibi convenerit. Hîc itaque Magistratus χειροτονητοὶ Populi creabantur suffragiis, referentibus ad Populum Thesmothetis, Pollux, l. 8. c. 9. aliaque ad publicam rem spectantia peragebantur antîquitus: Postea vero desitum, et Comitia in Bacchi θεάτρῳ haberi coepêre. nisi cum eligendus esset Magistratus, eôdem teste: Αὖθις δὲ τὰ μὲν ἄλλα εν τῷ Διονυςιακῷ θεάτρῳ, μόνας δὲ τὰς Α᾿ρχαιρεςίας εν τῇ Πνυκι.
